Nordic environment

The Nordic environment, with its unique climate, fertile soil, and sustainable practices, provides an unparalleled growing environment for farmed cereals and beans. The region’s commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship ensures that Nordic agriculture will continue to thrive, producing high-quality crops that contribute to global food security.

Building on this strong agricultural foundation Senson empowers food and beverage manufacturers with sustainable, innovative, plant-based natural ingredients that deliver exceptional flavor, nutrition, and cost-efficiency, all sourced from the pristine Nordic environment. While we harness the unique crops cultivated in this region, we are dedicated to ensuring that we leave the environment in an even better condition for future generations.

Cold winters

During winter, we experience only a few hours of daylight, snow covering the fields, and temperatures occasionally dropping to -25°C. For winter crops, this snow coverage provides essential protection against the harsh sub-zero temperatures. Additionally, the cold winters help reduce naturally the prevalence of harmful microbes.

Land of mid-night sun

In summer, we receive continuous sunlight, which drives intense growth for crops. This period is crucial for grains to fully develop their nutrients, proteins and starch content. The abundant sunlight accelerates photosynthesis, ensuring a high-quality and plentiful harvest.

NORDIC Raw materials

CUSTOM SELECTED CEREALS AND BEANS

To achieve optimal outcomes during Finland’s short but intense growing season, we use specially chosen varieties of barley, rye, oats, wheat, and faba beans. These custom-selected varieties are developed for Finland’s unique conditions, with cold winters and intense summers with 24/7 sunlight.

COLLABORATION WITH FARMERS

Most raw materials are sourced within 200 km of the factory from family farms. We collaborate with farmers to adopt regenerative farming and crop rotation to reduce climate impact and improve soil quality.

PURE Water

Finland is a country known for its 180,000 freshwater lakes and some of the purest water in the world. This water, along with cereals and beans, serves as the primary raw material in Senson extracts. Our water is sourced from a spring located on an island in the Lake Vesijärvi, adjacent to our facility.
